On May 7, Cumberland Farms was honored at the 2013 Association of Energy Engineers New England Chapter Awards for the 50,000 square foot freezer project that was designed and constructed by CMC Design-Build.
The project received an honorable mention for innovation and comprehensiveness in energy efficiency. CMC’s design incorporated numerous upgrades to the building envelope, mechanical and electrical systems, and dock equipment that reduces annual electrical consumption by over 1.1 million kilowatt hours resulting in annual savings of approximately $150,000.
In addition to the annual savings, CMC applied for incentives for the upgrades through National Grid’s New Construction Incentive Program. Based upon the energy savings measures that Cumberland Farms installed, a rebate of nearly $1,000,000 was awarded for the project.
