We’re pleased to announce that the CMC Design-Build team recently completed a 55,000 square foot expansion for Cumberland
Farms’ distribution center, located in Westborough MA. Before construction began, our engineering team performed a feasibility study to analyze the current and projected inventory and sales data to determine both the ideal size and the best possible layout for the expansion.
Our team then laid out and constructed 30,000 square feet of freezer space with a roof height of 40 feet, accommodating single and multi-deep pallet racking with a shipping and receiving dock. We also managed the National Grid Large Business Incentive submission that allowed them to receive a sizeable rebate for energy-saving measures that included: a two-stage refrigeration system; underfloor warming in the freezers that used waste heat from the refrigerated system; LED light fixtures with occupancy sensors and increased insulation.
The project was fast-tracked by Cumberland Farms and was finished a month ahead of schedule and under budget.
