CMC provided planning, design, and construction services for KeHE’s new 550,000 square foot grocery
distribution center in North East, Maryland. The facility includes 155,000 square feet of refrigerated
and frozen storage space that is controlled by a skid mounted central ammonia refrigeration system.
The fast-tracked project included many energy conservation upgrades including an evaporative
condenser, vertical dock levelers, LED lighting, use of waste heat for the glycol floor warming system,
an upgraded thermal envelope, and high-speed doors. The facility is currently in the 12-month
evaluation period to obtain LEED certification.
