Soup Manufacturing Facility Expansion – Everett, WA

CMC was selected by Kettle Cuisine to provide feasibility study services to compare the cost of on-site warehousing versus the continued use of off-site public cold storage at their west coast soup production facility. Based on the results of the study, CMC was then awarded the design and construction of an expansion and renovation project at the site. The site was not originally planned to support a major expansion so the only available space was directly in front of the existing shipping and receiving docks. Therefore, CMC had to develop a multi-phased construction plan to be able to complete the project without interrupting the ongoing operations at the facility. In addition to creating many design challenges, this also required significant coordination between CMC’s onsite team and Kettle Cuisine’s onsite operations team. In the first phase, a 15,000 SF dry storage warehouse space and dry dock was constructed. The new docks allowed CMC to construct the second phase, a 50,300 SF cold storage and refrigerated dock, in front of several of the original dock positions. CMC also constructed two new coolers within the existing facility for the storage of raw materials and to improve the flow of materials to the production spaces.
